June Updates

Conferences across Canada

The care and accountability of the Alliance denomination shows up in our structure as six districts. In the last couple months, each district held its own District Conference. These events are a time to pray together, to hear from God, to refocus on mission. And of course New Ventures shows up as each district leans in with this shared approach to engaging missionally in Canada.

The Western District was a great example of New Ventures engagement.

Pastors and church leaders from across Calgary came together at the Encompass Campus for a special New Ventures lunch. The gathering created a space for reflection, connection, and fresh conversations around how churches can intentionally partner in the new things God is doing.

The event was filled with a unifying purpose — stories were shared, new language around partnership emerged, and practical insights sparked interactive discussions. Leaders like Karissa, Clint, and Jerin highlighted how New Ventures is growing across the district, while Dave Enns offered a helpful framework for churches. This framework focused on identifying what’s emerging, filter for clarity, and walking in committed collaboration (with the new initiatives God is stirring in their midst).

What stood out? A hunger for greater collaboration, clarity, and shared mission. Leaders expressed a desire for continued learning, resource sharing, and regular rhythms of connection.

The spirit in the room was hopeful and humble — and the Encompass space itself, home to multiple congregations, embodied the very partnership the event encouraged.

This gathering is just the beginning. More spaces like this will be created across the country to help churches connect, learn, and step courageously into what God is stirring.

Fall Course for Canadian Leaders

As we look ahead to the future, it is undeniable that we face complex times. The need for leaders who are confident in their call and equipped to lead the church is critical.

Join New Ventures, The St. Lawrence District of The Alliance Canada, and Ecole de Théologie Évangélique du Québec (ETEQ) this fall for a new course for emerging leaders.  Discern your calling, develop your character, and form a robust theology of leadership that includes a deeply formed biblical ecclesiology.

Led by pastor, professor, and new venture leader Domenic Ruso, Ph.D., this first pilot class is part of a future collective of courses designed to give our leaders a strong foundation as they prepare to engage with the challenges and opportunities of the current and future culture around us.

Join Dom and emerging leaders from across Canada as we reflect on complex questions and explore new ways to follow Jesus' lead and live a life of ministry in a Post Christian culture.
