Celebrating New Things – Tyler Pike
Tyler Pike is a new venture discerning individual from the Central District who, through a dedicated season of discernment, has experienced clarity of direction, and has moved to Sudbury, ON with his family. In addition to being the assistant pastor at Bancroft Drive Community Church, Tyler will also be continuing to explore new venture opportunities in the city and region. Tyler has been walking this journey under the guidance of Greg Musselman (New Ventures Implementer – Grey-Bruce Region), and shared the following reflection on how this season has shaped him:
"New Ventures has been an incredible blessing in my life. Being invited to a retreat called Pursue Clarity felt like a revelation in itself. It is as if someone gave language to the place I was at in my walk with the Lord, and then invited me to further explore that place. It all began through a relationship with Greg Musselman, who has a passion to intentionally disciple people. Greg demonstrated what New Ventures is all about, receiving me with a listening posture, looking for where God is and what He may be doing in my life. I have been influenced in my own philosophy of ministry to take this same New Ventures style/approach as I prepare to enter into my first full time ministry position. The goal is not to create a new strategy, nor is it to strive to come up with a novel method. The goal is to listen and look for God! What is He saying? Where is He moving? Where is He wanting to move? This is a revolutionary and liberating philosophy! Having people come alongside to bless this process has been invigorating. By helping to name the season (of discernment), offering support, teaching about what the season might look like and how to move forward, offering a retreat like Pursue Clarity, all of this has helped to propel me to a clear sense of calling to a ministry position within The Alliance Canada, and ultimately to a position at an Alliance Church in Sudbury."
As you've been invited in to a portion of Tyler's journey of discernment, how might you feel the stirring of the Holy Spirit? If our goal is to listen and look for God - What might he be saying to you, today?
