Zach and Vanessa are excited to see how God will call out their unique gifts and personalities in this next season of their lives together.

We are excited to welcome Zach and Vanessa Hair as New Ventures Apprentices. Learn more about their story below and consider how you might join them on mission.

Who are Zach and Vanessa?

Zach was born in Alberta but grew up in Ontario. He completed a Bachelor’s degree in theology and youth ministry at Ambrose University and is currently studying spiritual care and psychotherapy at Knox College within the University of Toronto. Zach is very committed to learning about mental health and addiction and loves drinking good coffee, cooking and travelling in his spare time.

Vanessa was born and raised in Alberta. She grew up playing sports and fell in love with mountain biking in particular. Today she is a certified fitness coach and life coach. She rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized in 2018, and she is excited to focus on the intersection between faith and sport in this coming season.

Zach and Vanessa were married in early 2019 and currently live in Port Credit Mississauga.

What will their Apprenticeship involve?

The apprenticeship for Vanessa and Zach shares similar goals: discernment, listening, and engaging with where and whom the couple feels called to be. They are doing the apprenticeship together; however, both Zach and Vanessa are focusing on different areas during the allotted time.

Zach will be focusing his time towards his studies. His courses in spiritual care and psychotherapy are foundational to the line of work he feels called to pursue. Through this educational journey, Zach’s desire is to become equipped to train and educate leaders in and out of the church of the realities of mental health and addiction.

Vanessa will focus on completing her non-portable license with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. She will also be navigating her purpose coaching for athletes with the company, Beyond The Game, and building community through mountain bike coaching within the GTA and Georgian Bay Area.

What are some challenges they foresee?

Zach and Vanessa are both entering into a hectic season of life. They both see physical and emotional exhaustion being a challenge.

What are they most looking forward to?

Zach and Vanessa are most excited about working with each other. It is not every day that couples get to partner with their spouse in the mystery of how God is moving in their lives.
